It’s sad to say, but there are so many harmful chemicals in hair products.

It's important to understand which ingredients to avoid in hair care products so that from now on you can read labels and make non-toxic choices for yourself and your family.

I understand that this info can be overwhelming at first. Part of why I'm a Health Coach is to take the overwhelm away. Which is why I'll also be sharing some chemical free shampoo & conditioner brands.

Some ingredients to avoid in hair products are:

  • PEG (Polyethylene Glycol)
  • Fragrance
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
  • Triclosan
  • Dimethicone

These ingredients can lead to a variety of health issues from hormone imbalance, weight gain, skin issues, cancer and more.

These ingredients then get washed down the drain where they harm our environment also. (source)

I know that being cautious about our hair care may seem silly or over the top. I’ve had clients say things like “It’s only on my head for a couple minutes, it can’t do that much harm”.

Although the exposure to toxins from our hair care is a low dose….it’s a low dose several times a week in addition to low doses of exposure to toxins from many other sources. These low doses add up and have a cumulative effect which is where the harm to our health and environment.

Making the switch to non toxic hair care products is so EASY!

And although a lot of people think that natural products don’t work as well as the products they currently use, I can assure you that some of them work even better!

You know I like to make it easy for you which means I’ve done all the research and have tried MANY products.

Here are my faves:

Desert Essence Unscented Shampoo & Conditioner

What I love most about this combo is that I can add whatever scents I want to it by placing a couple drops of an essential oil into the palm of my hand and mixing it with the shampoo/conditioner. Essential oils have hair health benefits and smell amazing! Click here for Desert Essence Unscented Shampoo & Conditioner.

Phillip Adam ACV Shampoo & Conditioner

I was given a sample of this shampoo and conditioner to try from the company. I do rinse my hair with vinegar at times because it helps remove build up. I was excited to try vinegar already in a shampoo, and it didn’t disappoint. The awesome thing about this set is that you get the benefit of the vinegar without the smell because this shampoo & conditioner smell really good. Acure Clarifying Shampoo & Conditioner

I honestly love everything from Acure. I’m a fan of the clarifying shampoo & conditioner because I like to get rid of the build up a lot of us experience in our hair and on our scalp. Click here for Acure brand shampoo & conditioner.

Puracy Daily Shampoo & Conditioner

Puracy is another brand that has many items I really like. I also use their cleaning products. Click here for Puracy Daily Shampoo & Conditioner.

Switching to any of these brands from conventional shampoo’s and conditioner’s will significantly reduce the amount of toxins you’re exposing yourself to.

Let this one non-toxic switch be one of many!
