I truly believe the point of makeup is to enhance a woman’s natural beauty, not to make us look like a whole different person.

I also believe that we all have the right to use non-toxic makeup and clean skin care products.

Unfortunately, most ingredients in cosmetics are incredibly toxic and can lead to hormone imbalance, skin issues, cancer, weight gain and more.

The qualities I look for in makeup are good coverage for the foundation, great color for things like blush and eyeshadow, ease of use, mascara and eyeliner that doesn’t end up all over my face, non-nano particles, free of fragrance, parabens, phthalates, silicone, polymers, and more.

I used to own one of those huge train cases full of makeup. The silly thing is that most of the eyeshadow’s I had were pretty much the same color.

I bought most of my makeup on a whim because I was bored or felt like I needed ‘retail therapy’ and end up buying shit I didn’t need.

Now I have one small bag of makeup, just the basics, because that’s all I need.

My disclaimer for this post is that I am definitely NOT a makeup artist. I truly do just the basics and, quite frankly, most days I don’t even wear makeup anymore.

That is something my 17 year old self would have never believed! For most of my adult life, I wouldn’t be caught leaving my house without makeup on.

Being able to leave the house without makeup is a result of becoming more secure with my looks over the years. not caring what someone else thinks of my looks, and getting healthy on the inside has definitely improved my skin!

If you want to learn more about getting healthy from the inside out, my mini course Beautifully Safe Skin is for you! Click here to learn more.

Here are some before and after pictures of me. It’s also pretty unusual of me to have my hair done. It’s usually in a messy mom ponytail.

This is what I use step-by-step:

Face moisturizer

My DIY lotion or Herbal Choice Mari tinted face lotion if I need spf. SPF shouldn’t be worn everyday because we do need exposure to sunlight for short periods of time.

However, if I’m going to be outdoors for a long period of time, that’s when I choose to wear the Herbal Choice Mari tinted face lotion.
