DIY Non-toxic Christmas Candles

It's almost Christmas! Do you still need to get some gifts? Maybe you need some festive decorations for your Holiday party!

Have no fear! I'm here to show you how easy it is to make your own candles!! One is peppermint and the other is a combination of wild orange, cinnamon, and clove. Both are perfect scents for the holidays!

In this video, I show you how to make some awesome smelling and chemical free candles. Most store bought candles contain so many chemicals! In my opinion, they're not even worth buying!
Read this post to find out more about the chemicals we have in our homes, how toxic they are to us, and how to reduce them.

What you'll need:

  • Small pot with 1-1.5 inches of water in it.
  • Jars/containers: I purchased the jars in the picture from Michael's craft store for $1.50 each. I've also used these small mason jars.
  • Wicks: I used these wicks. You can get shorter wicks, but I like using the longer wicks so that I can wrap them around a pencil to hold in place while the wax is cooling (shown in video).
  • Essential oils: I use these essential oils. In the video I used peppermint, wild orange, cinnamon, and clove.

Place beeswax into your glass container. Place glass container into pot with water; then turn on the flame on your stove. You want the water and beeswax to heat up together.

While beeswax is melting, prepare your wicks by wrapping them around a pen/pencil and securing them on with tape (as shown in video).

As soon as all the beeswax is melted, pour into your container while making sure the wick is in place. Add the essential oils that you chose. Let it cool!
